Morning star

What wil it be?

All the hexagons of the Frozen Christmas series are compatible and can be made into many things. You can alter the look, size and feel of your project by changing the hook and yarn. You can make shawls, scarfs, blankets, bed covers, rugs, table decorations. It’s really all up to you. The diameter of the hexagon is 31cm (34 from corner to corner).

What will you need?

For this hexagon you’ll need the following:

  • a size 4 crochet hook

  • 50g of a DK wight yarn ( I’m using the Merino from Vlnap – it’s 50g and 105m)

  • stitch markers to make sure you won’t get lost in your project

Image overlay crochet

This pattern is made in the overlay crochet technique and for it’s anotation I use the Petranese. It’s logical and quite intuitive. You can learn all about it on the Frozen Christmass introduction page.

General rules to reading a pattern

-there are two alternating corner options from round 4 till round 20 there (with exception of the round 10)

a) sc, ch1, sc into the same sc from the previous round

b) sc into the ch1 space from previous round (which the a) option goues into)

– it is recomended to mark the a) ch1 and b) sc with a stitch marker

– every pattern round has 6 repetitions (starting wth round 3), the beginnieng of the sequence states which corner variation is to be used

– in the last repetition you have to replace the last stitch with a slip stitch (ss) and a ch1. The new round beggins with the apropriate corner variation into the center corner of a previous one (ch1 space or sc) – preferable marked with a stitch marker.

– always leave out one stitch unworked behind each special stitch (front posts, stitches in the FLO, … )

Skip 1 stitch behind each special stitch with exception of the dcbb and hdcbb-x. In case of dcbb, it’s skipped in front of it and in case of hdcbb-x, it’s not left out at all.
